ACCORDING to World Health Organization (WHO) data, there are two million people die each year from food and drink poisoning. In Indonesia, about 200 cases of food poisoning occur each year.
The lack of supervision kept the victims tumbling. The high number of reported cases of food poisoning in Indonesia above, indicates that hazardous food is still a threat to consumers in Indonesia.
In order to raise children’s awareness of the surrounding healthy food, the collaboration of Arya Noble and Taman Baca Innovator and Komunitas Sahabat Kecil (KOSACIL) held a healthy food choosing activity for children of Taman Baca Jendela Dunia in Bantar Gebang.
Arya Noble Corporate Affairs Director Andreas Bayu Aji said the event aims to help the Government’s program in maintaining the growth of Indonesian children through healthy and hygienic food education programs in daily consumption.
“We build this program based on the needs of the children in the area, these children do a lot of activities around the landfills, we do not want these children will be affected by diseases because food that is not maintained and guaranteed hygiene,” he said to Okezone, Sunday (11/3/2018).
“Therefore we educate these children to choose, measure and re-examine the food they eat,” he said.
Based on data from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) for the period of 2009 – 2013, it is estimated that there are 10,700 cases of food poisoning outbreaks. During that period, 411,500 people were sick and 2,500 people died from food poisoning.
This figure is expected to increase (if all cases are detected). In addition BPOM also recorded in Indonesia, within the period of 2011 and 2015, food products that are not in accordance with established standards increased approximately 35 percent. Such a number of harmful substances are used as additives for food and microbial contamination.
